Restoration work of Munda Headworks inaugurated

PESHAWAR  - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Irrigation and Social Welfare, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao Wednesday inaugurated the restoration work of Munda Headworks in Charsadda District.
Chairman Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Sherpao, MPAs Arshad Umarzai, Sultan Muhammad and Khalid Umarzai were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the ceremony held on this occasion, Sikandar Sherpao has said that Munda Headworks was swept away in the flood in 2010, adding that its capacity had increased by 0.1 million cusecs after its reconstruction. He said it was the first complete automatic Headworks of the country.
The farmers and cultivators of Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi districts would benefit from the said Headworks. He also appreciated the efforts of Project Director FDRD Irrigation Department, Zahid Abbasi and his team members for reconstruction of Munda Headworks. Sikandar Sherpao further said that developmental projects worth billions of rupees were going on in Charsadda district whereas many others have been accomplished.
He said that 24 mega projects in irrigation sector were going on in Charsadda district adding that 178 bridges and 161 civil channels were also being constructed which would go a long way in ameliorating the lot of the people of Charsadda.
Sikandar Sherpao said that China–Pakistan Economic Corridor carried utmost importance for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adding that no injustice with the province would be tolerated in this regard.
He said that an industrial estate would be established in Charsadda district very soon.
“Land for the proposed industrial estate was available,” he said. He said the federal government should give priority to Munda Dam as it was also very important for the province.
With the said project, areas of Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera would be protected from floods and thousands acres of land would also come under cultivation.
