Kabul: The Deputy Afghan Foreign Minister on Political Affairs Hekmat Khalil Karzai met with the Taliban representatives in Islamabad to discuss reconciliation process.
According to the local media reports in Pakistan, Taliban’s former Deputy Foreign Minister Mullah Jalil and senior leader Qari Din Muhammad are representing Taliban group.
Quoting informed sources the reports added that the meeting is a follow-up of he recently held talks in Urumqi, China.
The two-day meeting between the Afghan officials and Taliban representatives was held in the month of May this year.
The meeting was reportedly facilitated by Pakistan’s military intelligence – Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in an apparent show of goodwill aimed at a negotiated solution to the insurgency.
Negotiations between the Afghan officials and Taliban representatives in Islamabad comes as the Taliban-led insurgency have been rampant across the country during the recent months.
The Taliban group claimed responsibility for a suicide car bombing in capital Kabul today which targeted the vehicles convoy of the NATO troops.
