SARGODHA- A rape victim hailing from Sargodha committed suicide after denial of justice.
The girl belonging to a poor family from village Chak, was pregnant after being raped over months.
According to police, a man raped the girl on gun point for several months which consequently led to pregnancy. Knowing the pregnancy, the accused Sabir, Abid, Nazeer and Mukhtaran Bibi forced her to abort pregnancy. The girl had reported police station about the abortion and filed an FIR (First investigation report) against above mentioned accused.
Disappointed over slow proceedings, the girl committed suicide taking poisonous tablets of pesticide. The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice over the incident and sought report from District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha within 24 hours. Shahbaz also sent Station House Officer PS Karrana to police-lines as OSD. Another FIR has been lodged on the report of family of the victim. The bereaved family has demanded justice and immediate arrest of the responsible; however, no arrest has been made yet till filing of this news.
