HAFIZABAD - RPO Capt (R) Muhammad Ameen Wance Tuesday declared that the police in the Gujranwala region have devised integrated plan to tighten noose around the dacoits, kidnappers and anti-social elements, adding Pilot Project has been made for Hafizabad district to deal with the criminal with iron hands.Addressing an Open Court at DPO office which was attended by large numbers of traders, landlords, lawyers, respectable and newsmen of the district, the DPO has given a strong massage to criminals that either to surrender or ready to face the music as the police have committed to protect, life, honour and property of citizens with the cooperation of all segments of society. The RPO declared that a Pilot Project was being made for Hafizabad where mini-policing would be started at Union Council level. He elaborated that Informal Advisory Committees consisting of ten to 15 lawyers, traders, newsmen and member of civil society at UC level where a “Mini SHO” would be deputed. The SHO would be provided staff of an ASI and five constables who would be assigned the task to update record of criminals, POs, drug addicts & pushers and prostitution dens and would ensure servicing of court summons, he added.Capt (R) Ameen Wance said the committees would remain active before and after the registration of FIRs, moreover, these committees would ensure resolution of petty issues and to end rivalry between the parties. He said the cops engaged with the UC level would escort even wedding parties to their destination to prevent from any untoward incident. The RPO also stressed the need for improving intelligence network not only by the police but also the members of Advisory Committees and all persons and cops connected with the committees should present intelligence reports regarding the activities of outlaws at least once in a month. He warned that from today there would be no ‘Qabza mafia’ in the district and directed DPO for taking leading role to eliminate this menace. He said that the Chief Minister had directed the police to make the department corruption-free. He assured that strict action would be taken against corrupt, dishonest and inefficient police officials.The RPO said public confidence in police is inevitable for promoting best possible policing. He admitted that there were numerous flaws and drawbacks in police service and assured to remove them. He advised the SHOs in the district to work with commitments to revive confidence among the public.Later, a traders’ delegation led by Markazi Anjuman Tajran President Sh Muhammad Amjad called on the RPO and appealed him to trace out the Rs110 million burglary in a jewellery shop. They told him that the incident was committed in the second week of January but the police have so far failed to trace any of the accused. The RPO assured them that special team would be constituted to trace the dacoity.Earlier, the RPO and Commissioner Saeed Wahla jointly chaired the monthly meeting in the DCO office to review crime situation in the district. The meeting was attended among others by local MNA and MPAs who gave them some suggestion for ensuring further improvement in law & order situation.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
