Rickshaws causing accidents

JANDANWALA – Increasing number of motorcycle rickshaws, driven by untrained drivers, has become a major cause of road accidents and nuisance in the city.
Most of these rickshaws are unregistered and rickshaw drivers, most of them are teenagers, having no driving licenses.
According to a survey, 80 percent drivers have no driving licenses. Due to increased number mishaps, motorcycle rickshaws have become a symbol of road accidents. Further these rickshaws have become cause of noise pollution and nuisance in the area. Along with irritating sounds of rickshaws, the drivers play music amplifiers at full volumes. Moreover, police, district administration and TMA remain unmoved and take no action against violators of law and disrupter of public peace. Citizens have demanded the DCO and DPO to take action against such violations.
