SIALKOT - The Punjab government has adopted numerous measures for the promotion of education to enhance literacy rate in the province, said MPA Ms Naseem Akhtar Khawaja.
Addressing annual prize distribution ceremony at Government College of Commerce for Women here, she said that women education was the key to build economy and overcome social problems confronted by society as the country’s bright future was linked with the women education.
The Punjab government, she said, was making strenuous efforts for providing maximum educational facilities to girl students across the province. To provide higher education facilities Allama Iqbal Women University will be functional in near future in Sialkot and female students will be able to complete their higher studies at local level,” she said.
The MPA disclosed that necessary funds amounting to Rs270 million had been released for Fatima Jinnah Women University campus in Sialkot.
On the occasion, she directed the District Manager Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) to furnish complete list of position-holding students of the college at earliest possible, adding that the list will be submitted to Punjab Chief Minister for awarding laptops to the students.
Earlier, college Principal Shahnaz Manzoor in her welcome address highlighted various problems and achievements of the college.
Later, shields and certificates were distributed among the outstanding students of the college.
