Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the PML-N respects the judiciary but disagrees to the decision of the Election Tribunal against Khawaja Saad Rafiq in NA-125 rigging case.
He said, “The PML-N had faced defeat in the Musharraf era, but we accepted the result. Thus, also the PTI should accept the results of General Elections 2013.” He also claimed that the general elections were transparent.
He stressed a need for changing Thana culture and announced Rs10 crore grant to improve Vehari police. He also ordered Vehari DPO Sadiq Ali Dogar to complete the plan of the new police stations in the district and take steps to ensure the provision of justice.
He clarified that corruption would not be tolerated in police stations. “If any police official is found corrupt, I will take action against him,” he said.
Talking to the media, he said the Punjab Government will purchase wheat worth 4 million tonne wheat from the farmers of Punjab and no corruption in the Food Department would be tolerated.
Opening of a kidney centre in DHQ Hospital Vehari, he said that the first priority of Punjab government was to provide healthcare to the public.
Meanwhile, medical student Sidrah Bilal protested against medical officers of DHQ Vehari including Dr Imran Azam and Dr Muhammad Ajmal, and said that they were sexually harass her during classes. On the complaint, the CM ordered the DCO Nasir Jamal to probe the matter seriously.
Later, he held a meeting with MNAs and MPAs in Vehari district and discussed various issued especially local political situation.
In Burewala, the chief minister inaugurated development projects worth billions of rupees in Burewala. The projects inaugurated include Cardiac Ward at Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Burewala, Computersied Lands Record Centre, 1122 Rescue Centre, road from Burewala to Chichawatni and renovation of Burewala to Luddan road.
He inaugurated Sheikh Din Muhammad Trust Medical Hospital established by Supreme Court lawyer Sheikh Muhammad Akram and his family at Mouza Dewan Sahib.
He named the hospital after his father Sheikh Din Muhammad and free treatment will be offered to the mentally retarded persons. The chief minister also laid foundation stone of a child health centre.
On the occasion, the chief minister said acts like setting up of hospitals for the poor is a form of charity. He appealed to philanthropists to invest in the welfare projects for the betterment of the deserving poor.
He said soon the people would see prominent change in the rural healthcare centres. He said his interest lies in education, health and communication sector. He said that the government was committed to delivering in all the sphere of life, adding that medical and education are the two sectors which are to be developed for the development of the whole society.
He said government has launched a massive project of rebuilding of roads and in the next three years, all the roads in the province will be completed with carpet finish and 12 feet width to ensure smooth flow of traffic from villages to cities.
He said that China had given historic 46 billion dollars development package as a gift while 20 billion dollars had been reserved for the electricity projects while Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself was monitoring the projects initiated under the package for timely completion.
At Mouza Dewan Sahib, he offered Fateha at the shrine of Baba Haji Sher Muhammad Dewan. He also announced that a bridge between Burewala and Chishtian will be built for smooth flow of traffic. Meanwhile, he also ordered an inquiry over police torture on a TV cameraman.
