LAHORE  - The Lahore High Court Bar Association yesterday unanimously passed three resolutions calling for accountability of all persons allegedly involved in Panama leaks including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and a judge of the high court.
The Bar also constituted to constitute a Committee to hold inquiry into the allegations of corruption against sitting Chief Justice of Pakistan’s son in Karachi.
The Bar took these decisions in its general house meeting held at the Bar office which was attended by hundreds of lawyers yesterday.
Three lawyers namely Allah Bakhsh Gondal, Raheel Kamran Cheema and Malik Zeeshan Ahmad had moved the resolutions seeking fair and free accountability of all politicians, judges, Army officers, bureaucrats and others allegedly involved in shifting public money abroad and establishing offshore businesses.
LHCBA President Rana Zia Abdul Rehman, Secretary Anas Ghazi, former Presidents of the Bar Abid Saqi and Ahmad Awais, Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary Asad Manzoor Butt, Asma Jahangir, Azam Nazir Tarar and others addressed the House.
The lawyers leaders said that it was very regretful that name of Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan of the LHC was also found in Panama leaks but unfortunately, no action was taken against him.
They urged the Supreme Judicial Council to take action against the judge under Article 209 of the Constitution.
The lawyers also expressed concern over the attitude of judges with young lawyers.
