WAH CANTT - Although Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has waged war against dengue, the Taxila administration has turned back to such efforts in sheer violation of the CM anti-dengue policy.
The chief minister in his message on anti-dengue day has said, “Every department and person will have to discharge their responsibility for protecting people from dengue. He said that a vigorous awareness campaign is continuing regarding preventive measures for protecting the people from dengue”. He urged all government departments are fully active to cope with dengue.
But situation is complete different in this part of the province as local administration is seem reluctant to launch vigorous anti-dengue efforts and even least to join hands with civil society awareness campaign. The bureaucratic and indifferent attitude of local administration came under spotlight when despite invitation and frequent requests made to the local administration no official including Assistant Commissioner, Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) and Tehsil Officers have turned up to seminar organized by Tehsil Union of Journalists (TUJ) at community centre Taxila on Tuesday.
President TUJ Rasheed Mughal while talking to newsmen has termed the attitude of the local administration as anti public and contempt to the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab. He said despite repeated attempts no local administration official including AC and TMO has turned up to the seminar organized in connection to anti dengue day.
He said students and representatives waited for the officials concerned but they seem themselves above the masses. He called upon Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Secretary to take stock of the situation and take strict action against such officials who are seems reluctant to follow his instructions. When this scribe tried to contact Assistant Commissioner Shahid Imran to get his version over the issue, he was not attending his cell phone despite repeated attempts.
