LAHORE - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak yesterday accused the Election Commission of favouring the ruling party and advised the election authority to set its direction right.
“Election Commission seems to lack fair play when the matters concerning the PML-N come their way,” Khattak told a press conference at chairman secretariat.
He said the incidents that took place during KP local bodies elections were not properly probed by the ECP.
Khattak said mega projects taken up by the Punjab government could not benefit the poor.
“Imran Khan does not interfere in the matters of KP government and only insists on following party’s manifesto,” he claimed.
He added nobody even the chief minister could interfere in the working of the departments. The police in his province working completely in accordance with the law and no false FIRs are being registered, he added.
“My government is focusing on health and education. PTI-led government made sure 100 percent presence of teachers in schools. In the next 10 years quality education at par with private English schooling will also be provided in the province,” he maintained.
The KP chief minister said the local government system in Punjab was similar to introduced during General Zia regime which promises no trickle down affect. But his government strengthened the local governance in letter and spirit.
Replying to a question, Khattak said, “Kalabagh Dam should be made with the consent of all the provinces.”
He said federal government was doing injustice with the Khyber PK government by not providing it 500-600 megawatt electricity on daily basis.
“Justice (R) Wajihuddin is insane and there is no accusation against me regarding buying the party leaders votes during intra-party polls,” he claimed.
