SWAT - Building momentum ahead of his Azadi March next week, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan vowed that monarchy would be replaced with real democracy.
"We are left with no other option but to come out on roads till we get justice. We are going to snatch back our independence which our ancestors acquired by their sacrifice," said Khan while addressing his supporters at an inauguration ceremony of a micro hydel power plant in Matta Town here on Thursday.
Continuing to criticise his rival Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the party chief said that a businessman should never be the head of state as he would always look out for his own interest over Pakistan's.
"The current rulers are kings. They are businessmen, prospering themselves whereas masses are dying of poverty and starvation. We are going to change the entire obsolete system on the Independence Day which will herald a new era of true democracy and a country free of monarchy," he vowed.
"Will he run the country or do his own business," Imran questioned. "Democracy means independence but Pakistan has been denied this right since its inception. We're not trying to derail democracy, but fighting to dethrone monarchs," Khan said. The invocation of article 245 in Islamabad, Khan said, was the biggest undemocratic move taken by the government.  He said he could have easily rejected the results of May 2013 "fraudulent elections" but refrained due to poor economic and law and order situation in the country.
The PTI chief said that new project would provide residents of the area with electricity as cheap as Rs2 per unit and there would be no loadshedding. He also questioned why Nawaz chose to produce electricity at Rs14 per unit in Punjab when it was possible to obtain cheaper electricity from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for only Rs8 per unit, alleging that the premier made this decision to line his own pockets. He further claimed that Nawaz had chosen to launch metro bus service in Lahore instead of working on improving education and healthcare in the city as it was more profitable to him.
"People are dying of hunger in the country, so why the prime minister has chosen this project for Lahore," he stated.
The government should be doing things that help the common man and poor people, he added. "I am so glad that today we are doing exactly what the government should do," Imran said, commenting on measures taken by the KP government.
The PTI chief also announced that in the next 18 months, 386 such hydel-power projects will be started throughout the province.
While claiming that organised rigging took place in at least 90 constituencies, Khan said that his party sought re-checking of results in only four seats. But, the PTI leader said, the government was in no mood to address their grievances; rather, the PML-N in conjunction with the EC, introduced a new terminology for rigging: a typo error which only benefits the PML-N.

Khan said his party’s government would refurbish hospitals, schools in KP and bring investment in the province.
