LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq yesterday supported Imran Khan’s accountability movement, however, said that the people around PTI Chairman were not honest.
“PML-N government is not ready for accountability but the masses are tired of corruption and want ruthless accountability of the corrupt rulers,” he replied while answering a question during a Press conference at JI head office Mansoora.
Siraj also raised voice in support of Dr Tahirul Qadri’s Qisas Movement launched by the PAT on August 6 on Model Town killing issue.
He said that tracing the culprits of the 14 murders at Model Town was the government’s responsibility.
He said that it was a matter of shame that the killers of 14 innocent people in broad day light in the Punjab capital were still untraced.
He demanded establishment of an independent commission over Panama Leaks and said if the government was adopting delaying tactics, the Chief Justice of Pakistan should take suo moto notice of the matter and set up a judicial commission for probe into the Panama Leaks.
The JI chief called the Press conference to highlight the problems of overseas Pakistanis and demanded of the government to set up Pakistani Consulates in big cities of foreign countries where they were not located so far.
He also called for making necessary arrangements for the release of hundreds of Pakistanis presently in jail in the US, India and other countries.
He also demanded of the government for grant of voting right to the overseas Pakistanis before the 2018 elections.
He said that it was a pity that the overseas Pakistanis remitting billions of dollars to the country did not have any say in the formation of the government. JI chief said that the government had never tried to know the problems of the overseas Pakistanis nor considered its duty to solve their difficulties.
He said that taking the overseas Pakistanis into confidence was essential for saving the country from being isolated.
He said that the Pakistanis abroad were sick of the corruption, commissions and inefficiency of the Pakistani Embassies abroad while the government was not giving any attention to the setting up of Consulates in big cities for their assistance.
He said that the overseas Pakistanis had to pay a heavy fee for the issuance of new National Identity Cards and their renewal while they had to come to the country for renewal of Passport.
Siraj said that overseas Pakistanis were rendering valuable services in the fields of education, health and business.
He said that the overseas Pakistanis were making investments in foreign countries in view of the rampant corruption in the country.
He said that the government has failed to protect the rights of the people of Kashmir and raise the issue at world level in present situation.
He said that JI will hold a grand long march on August 15 from Muzaffarabad to Chakhoti on Kashmir issue and announce its strategy after the march.
