ISLAMABAD Two unknown-armed motorcyclists opened fire on four employees of the Mines Department, leaving one of them injured in Sector I-9/4. The incident took place at the border of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday. When contacted, Superintended Police (SP), Jamil Hashmi, said that four persons of the Mines Department, identified as Mehmood Akhtar Superintended, Tariq Farooq Ahmed, a sanitary inspector, Yasir Riaz, a stenographer and Syed Adil Akhtar, a clerk, were attacked when they were going to towards Pindora, Rawalpindi. He said that when they reached near Block-44, two motorbike riders opened fire on them. Mehmood Akhtar sustained a bullet in his, he added. He said that the injured superintended was later shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Where he is being provided necessary treatment. To a question, he said that a case was being registered against the unknown culprits. Investigation would be started after getting information from the victim, Mehmood Akhtar once he recovered. He said it would be premature to comment on the reason behind it.
