Precious birds smuggling bid foiled

LAKKI MARWAT - The employees of Wildlife Department have foiled a birds smuggling bid and seized precious birds from a Multan-bound bus near Wanda Banochi check post on Sunday.
"Acting on a tip-off, DFO Wildlife Bannu Abdul Halim Marwat formed a special team headed by SDFO Lakki Abdul Rehman and tasked it to foil the birds smuggling attempt at all cost," said an official.
He said that the team stopped a bus near Wanda Banochi check post on Bannu-DI Khan Road in the area limits of Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station of Darra Pezu town and during its search recovered 64 different kinds of partridges from it.
An alleged smuggler Rafiq Khan hailing from Bannu district was arrested on the spot. The birds were being illegally transported to Multan from Bannu.
He revealed that the seized birds included 31 grey partridges, 10 black partridges, 8 sand partridges and 15 see-see partridges.
When contacted, DFO Halim appreciated wildlife employees for foiling attempt to smuggle precious and endangered birds to down parts of the country.
ACTION TAKEN AGAINST ABSENT TEACHERS: The anti-corruption establishment Lakki Marwat has initiated an action against two female teachers who were found absent from schools during a surprise visit by a special team on Saturday.
On the directives of ACE Provincial Director Ziaullah Toru, a team comprising ACE Bannu Assistant Director Abdul Hai Baber, Circle Officer Shahid Adnan and SDEO Shahna along with civil judge Muhammad Hasnain paid surprise visits to girls primary schools in Ghaznikhel and Abbasa Khattak localities. "In Ghaznikhel, the officials came to know that a female teacher of Government Girls Primary School No. 1, Zubaida has hired a substitute namely Aamina to work in her place," claimed Adnan, the ACE circle officer. He said that another teacher Farzana Shaheen of Government Girls Primary School Abbasa Khattak was found absent from school since long.
He said that the ACE team took the record of both the schools in custody and initiated action against the absent teachers.
"To ensure attendance of teachers in public sector schools and enhance standard and quality of education is the top priority of the present government," he maintained.
