LHC judge orders release of 54 prisoners from central jail

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court visited central jail and ordered release of 54 prisoners involved in minor here the other day.
Gujranwala Additional District and Sessions Judge Habibullah Amir, jail superintendent Kamran Anjum, Dr Arif, Dr Hamda, Asim Zulifqar Ali, DO Social Welfare Jamshed Bashir and other officers were also present on the occasion.
The judge inspected security measures, quality of food being provided to the prisoners, kitchen, hospital, literacy centres for minors, emergency wards, jail dispensary for women, and rehabilitation centres for addict prisoners.
He also examined different barracks and talked to the prisoners, including men, women and minors. Justice Mansoor was informed about the facilities like medicines, medical facilities and education being provided to minor and elder prisoners.
Talking to the media men after inspection, he said that he would write recommendations to government for increase in jail budget so that prisoners could be entertained with better facilities.
He said that the jail officers should arrange technical training programs for prisoners to make them effective part of the society.
He also issued directions to jail officers for increase in facilities including provision of clean drinking water, solar panels, computers and other facilities.
