ABBOTTABAD: At least five bodies of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash victims identified through biometric system at Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) in Abbottabad on Thursday.
According to the AMC sources, the victims including Farhad Aziz son of Shahzada Azeez ur Rehman resident of Shahi Qila Chitral, Mohammad Nawaz Khan son of Hamti Khan resident of Goldor Chitral and Mohammad Takbeer son of Khushiani Khan belonged to Bakarabad, Chitral, Ahsan Ghaffar son of Abdul Ghaffar resident of Rawalpindi and Sami Ullah son of Ahsanullah resident of Mohallah Nizamabad, Block 53 Derea Ghazi Khan were identified.
NADRA officials and doctors have recognised five bodies through biometric system while non availability of DNA test facilities in AMC Abbottabad, bodies of the plane crash victims would be sent to PIMS Islamabad and CMH Rawalpindi.
Pakistan Army dispatched its helicopters to Abbottabad and shifted 23 bodies to PIMS Islamabad.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that the plane crash site in Havelian has been completely cordoned off.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said, “The bodies of the air crash victims cannot be handed to the bereaved families immediately as the identification process through DNA test may take six to eight days.”
Talking to media, the minister requested the cooperation from the affected families as the ideitnfication of the bodies will take time.
The process of identification has been started as the members of bereaved families arrived at the hospital where they are given samples of their blood.
Ever since the report regarding the air crash was broken, the members of the bereaved families began arriving at the PIMS hospital.
