14 killings expose Karachi police’s tall claims


KARACHI – At least 14 people were killed in separate acts of violence in different parts of the metropolis, here on Thursday.
According to details, some unidentified gunmen shot dead a doctor in North Nazimabad within the remits of Hydri police post. Police said that the gunmen reached his clinic and killed the doctor namely Mirza Abid Baigh, son of Abdul Majeed Baig, resident of Buffer Zone having affiliation with defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan.
In another incident of target killing, two real brothers were shot dead in the remits of Maripur police station. Police said that Rashid Iqbal and his younger brother Kashif Iqbal were present at their bookstall where gunmen reached and started indiscriminate firing and later managed to flee. Both the brothers and a bystander child Sheroze sustained bullet wounds and taken to the Civil Hospital where both of them were succumbed to injuries. The child was admitted for treatment. Police suspected that both the brothers were killed over nonpayment of extortion.   A man was gunned down at Peetal Wali Gali, Golimar within the limits of Rizvia police station.
In the limits of Mochko police station, some gunmen shot dead a cop deployed on election cell duty. Police said that the victim Ghulam Abbas was performing duty for election commission. He was riding a motorbike when gunmen targeted him at Ittehad Town, Baldia. Another policemen wounded couple of days ago in New Karachi within the remits of Bilal Colony police station, succumbed to injuries on Thursday. Police said Kamran Najam was deployed at Samanabad police station. He was wounded by unknown culprits near 2-Minute Chowrangi.
In the remits of Khokharapar police station, police found a shot dead body and shifted it to morgue for identification after autopsy. Police said that assailants kidnapped, tortured and killed him before throwing the body at the said place.
A beheaded body of a man was found from the jurisdiction of Sukkhan police station. Police found the body from the bushes and shifted it to morgue for identification after autopsy.
Police said that victim Waseem Siddiqui, 47, son of Rafiq Siddiqui was standing outside his house when armed pillion riders came and opened indiscriminate firing on him. Resultantly he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the family after autopsy.
In the same police remits, a pan shop owner was gunned down inside his shop situated at Golimar Number-1.
Police said that the victim Amjadur Rehman, 20, was sitting at his pan shop where two armed riders came and shot him dead. His body was brought to ASH for medicolegal formalities. Two gunny-packed bullet-riddled bodies of men were found near Gate No 2, Zoological Garden, within the jurisdiction of Nabi Baksh police station.
Police said that deceased were identified as Maula Baksh, 45, son of Gul Muhammad and Bilal Baloch, 28, son of Mansoor Baloch, resident of Old Golimar area. Police said that unidentified culprits kidnapped the victims from somewhere and later threw their bodies at said place after brutally tortured and killing. The bodies shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for postmortem.
An employee of shipping company was killed at Albella Chowk situated near Soldier Bazaar in Solider Bazaar police precincts.
Police said the victim Muhammad Zeeshan, 26, was on way to workplace on his motorcycle when unidentified armed riders intercepted him and shot him dead. Later, they managed to escape. Resultantly he died on the spot.
The deceased shifted CHK and later handed over to the family after autopsy.
On the other side, Zahid Hussain Jaffri who was wounded on Monday succumbed to injuries on Thursday. Police said the victim was wounded when gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him near his residence in Saddar area. A man was killed at Yousaf Goth within the remits of Surjani police station. Police said deceased Rizwan Noor was at home where his friend namely Rizwan reached and shot him dead over some family dispute.
