Prices hike of PML-N one year equal to 5 years of PPP rule: JI

LAHORE- Ameer, Jamaat e Islami Sirajul Haq, has said that the PML (N) government had set a record of price hike during its one year rule.
In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that during one year period of the PML (N), the rise in the prices is equal to the five years of the PPP rule.
He called for immediate withdrawal of the raise in gas, electricity charges in public interest.
The JI chief condemned the government decision to withdraw the Rs. 150 billion subsidy on electricity, raise electricity tariff and imposition of levy on gas and imposition of surcharge to recover 240 billion. He
especially slated the government assurance to the IMF about privatization of the PIA by December 31 next year. This showed that actually the IMF was making decisions. He said this was enemy agenda and the nation won’t allow it.
Sirajul Haq said that rise in the electricity tariff for domestic, industrial and commercial use, and the raise the Motorway and National Highway toll tax would add to the miseries of the people.
He said that the people had voted the PML (N) to power on its promises of controlling prices and national development. However, he said the achievement of the PML(N) government was moving in the opposite direction. He said that raise in electricity tariff would create problems for all sections of the society besides leading to unemployment.
The JI chief said that the government had failed to control electricity thefts because the electricity thieves included influential people. However, the burden would fall on the poor in the shape of withdrawal of subsidy and higher tariff.
