HAFIZABAD - Regional Police Officer Gujranwala Range, Muhammad Amin Wance has stressed the needs for change in the mindset of police force to provide relief to the justice needy people.
Addressing the DPO, SDPOs, SHOs, Investigation Officers here Thursday, the RPO said that being Muslim all and sundry should fear for accountability in the world and Hereafter and must perform duties with the best of abilities, commitment and without fear or favour.
He urged the Investigation Officers to ensure investigation of cases in front of the parties while sitting in mosques for providing justice to the aggrieved persons.
Later, DPO Karamat Ullah Malik told the RPO that performance of the district police had improved to a great extent as during May, the police had rounded up 177 proclaimed offenders who were wanted in heinous crimes. The police also recovered stolen property worth Rs16.834 million, smashed four notorious gangs and arrested 18 members, recovered 3 Kalashnikovs, 22 rifles, 31 12-bore guns, 146 pistols, seven revolvers, 12 carbines, 56 magazines and 1010 rounds of ammunition from 162 anti-social elements, seized 9.661 kilograms of heroin, 2.556 kilograms of charas, 440 litres liquor, 1 kilograms of opium, unearthed 10 working stills from 168 drug peddlers, recovered 7 stolen cars, 19 bikes, one tractor, one 22-wheel trailer loaded with fertilizers worth Rs10 million. The RPO appreciated the performance and wished for further improvement.
Referring to the Mini-SHOs and Reconciliation Committees established in the district, he said that they were running smoothly but it needs improvement. He advised the DPO to arrange training workshop for the chairman, members and mini-SHOs for their capacity building so that they can perform their duties according to aspiration of the government and to achieve best possible results.
Later, while inaugurating the newly-established Citizens Police Liaison Committee consisting of 16 members, the RPO said that CPLC can play vital role in resolving the problems of people and would bridge the gap between the police and public.
He hoped that members and chairman of the CPLC should guide the police and pinpoint its weakness and drawbacks of department.
He said that “it was easy to constitute an institution but it is very difficult to run it efficiently”. He hoped that with the cooperation of public CPLI would be very helpful in mitigating the sufferings of people and reduce the burden on the police.
He congratulated Iqbal Manika for his election as Chief of the CPLI and Aamir Sohail Mughal as General Secretary and advised them to include more members belonging to different segment of society for achieving better results.
He also visited Ikhlaq Jewellers premises in Main Bazaar here who was deprived by the dacoits of gold worth Rs. one hundred million some months past and assured the owner, Seth Nasir, that police would definitely trace the accused shortly.
