Islamabad - An important hearing of former military ruler General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf’s fresh application seeking permanent exemption from appearance in Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case will be held on Monday (today).
Additional District and Sessions Judge Wajid Ali Khan will conduct the hearing and it is likely that the court would announce its verdict related to cancellation or issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants of Musharraf in the double murder case of Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and his mother Sahiba Khatoon.
On the last hearing, Musharraf’s counsel had submitted afresh application under Section 40 of CrPC and sought his client’s permanent exemption from appearance before the case in this matter by producing a new medical report of the former military ruler. He had contended that Musharraf could not appear before the court due to his bad health conditions and security reasons. Musharraf’s counsel had further argued that an accused could be granted permanent exemption in a case where more than one accused are involved.
On this occasion, plaintiff’s counsel Tariq Asad had opposed the application and maintained if Musharraf could appear in TV programmes then why he could not come to the court.
Later, the court had directed the counsel for Haroon Rasheed to complete his arguments on the next hearing of the application and had deferred the hearing for further proceedings in this case. Now, Advocate Tariq will complete his arguments on this hearing and it is likely that the court would announce its judgement after hearing his arguments in this matter.
