Sindh government admits negligence but rejects Punjab\'s aid offer for Tharparkar

KARACHI- The Sindh Government rejected aid offer by the Punjab Government for the drought-hit district Tharparkar today.

Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed concern over the situation and offered aid but the Sindh government refused to accept all kinds of assistance and aid from the Punjab government.

Meanwhile army troops have been sent to the affected area and wheat bags are also being distributed. The Prime Minister directed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to immediately get in touch with the authorities in Sindh to provide all possible aid and assistance.

People in Tharparkar, the desert area of Sindh, are facing famine-like situation in many areas. At least 32 malnourished children have died due to the famine. At least 193 children have died in Thar over the past three months.
