Walk held to protest prolonged power outages

LAKKI MARWAT - Over three dozens elders of Tajazai on Friday held a protest walk to record their grievances and agitation against prolonged electricity loadshedding.
Led by Tajazai Islahi Committee President Hafiz Salahud Din and General Secretary Haji Muhammad Zaman they reached the office of executive engineer Pesco at the District Headquarters Complex. On the occasion they condemned the local Pesco authorities for carrying unscheduled load shedding. They alleged that duration of loadshedding had been increased in violation of an agreement between the village's committee and power supply company at local level.
"The rural locality is hard hit by continuous load shedding which has made the lives of villagers miserable," they maintained. They said that students could not make preparation for matriculation examination while the farmers could nor run their tube wells to irrigate fields due to long power breakdowns.
They made clear that residents of the area would have no option other than to block road and surround the gird station if unscheduled and unfair load shedding was not immediately stopped. The protesters later went to the Pesco executive engineer where executive engineer was not present. The committee's general secretary Haji Muhammad Zaman talked to the XEN on phone who told that he had been transferred and now the charge of the office was with his subordinate.
The elders then met additional deputy commissioner Ihsanullah Khan and apprised him about the problem. The ADC assured that local administration would make all out efforts to reduce the duration of loadshedding and resolve other problems faced by the residents of Tajazai locality.
