50 kids stung by bees in Lodhran

LODHRAN - At least 50 students and principal of the same school were stung by honey bees at Sardarwala Government School here on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when students were playing in the school ground during the sports period and some naughty children threw a stone on bees nest. The disturbed insects then attacked the students and they were affected by the sting.

Around 50 students were seriously injured in the incident. They were rushed to hospital and provided medical assistance, rescue sources told the media.

Honey bee stings are known to be very painful, but the symptoms that result from a sting vary, depending on the amount of poison that has entered the immune system of the victim. The initial pain eventually fades, but only after a period of swelling and itching. Although the honey bee sting is not commonly hazardous, some people may be allergic to the bee’s venom and will experience such severe side effects as nausea, fainting and, in extreme cases, death.
