Muzaffargarh gets flood warning

MUZAFFARGARH
The district administration has issued flood warning in the riverine areas and warned the people to shift to safer places as flood emergency has been imposed there.
Vacations of the employees have been cancelled in the wake of any danger. DCO Hafiz Shaukat Ali warned the residents of riverine areas of Rangpur, Khudai, Head Muhammad Wala, Langra Saria, Murabada, Dobaha,Sunakki,Khangarh and Sher Sultan as over one lac cusec water was on way to the town from Head Trimmu.  The Irrigation department sources said that the water was likely to enter Muzaffargarh District and pass through the Chenab Bridge on Thursday.
The Irrigation department officials said that the water level in Chenab River increased due to unprecedented rains in the country.
Meanwhile, the residents of riverine areas of district started evacuation on self basis.
ROAD PROJECT: DCO Hafiz Shaukat Ali has said that Rs500 million will be spent on the construction of 10 roads of rural areas across the district under the Punjab Chief Minister Rural Roads Programme.
He said this while inaugurating the construction work at Maraha village along with MPA Kaswar Karim Langrial here the other day.
The DCO said that the construction of 10 roads would be completed during the current year. He said that a 85km long carpeted road would be constructed in the district, a 5 km road would be constructed from Khanpur Bhaga Sher to Jawana Bangla, a 9 km road from Head Kalo to Basti Sandila, a 12km long road from Khairpur to Gugiwala, a 9km long road from Pir Maki to Dira Din Pahuch, a road from Khangarh to Shah Jamal, a road from Fordwah Canal Bridge to Bonga Machi via Rojhanwali and a road would be constructed from Sikandar Bridge to Jhulan Arain under the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Highways XEN Muhammad Tariq Khan said that the Punjab Highways Department would complete the projects within five months.
MPA Kaswar Karim Langrial said that not only 500,000 people would be benefited from these roads but also people of the adjoining areas would get quick access to the city. MPA Ahmed Yar Khan Hinjra, DOC Malik Karim Baksh, EDO Health Dr Athar Iqbal, press club president Dr Khalid Mehmood, Nazir Ahmed and others were also present.
