The Kotli Said Ameer Police have registered a blasphemy case against a local Zakir, his son and daughter under Blasphemy Act here on Sunday.
According to the FIR (No 169 / 2013) registered on the complaint of a local schoolteacher under sections 295-A and 298-A PPC, the incident occurred in far-off bordering village Chaprar along the Sialkot Working Boundary here.
The FIR revealed that local Shia Zakir namely Arshad Gorawi’s 11-year-old daughter Rida was wandering in the village with shoes on carrying the names of different Sahaba karaam (Companions) were written with a marker. This blasphemous act sparked anger amongst the local villagers who turned anguished.
The irate villagers brought the controversial matter into the police. Upon information, Sialkot Saddar DSP Rana Zahid and Inspector Javaid Yaqub Nagra rushed to the spot and tried to calm down the protesters through negotiation.
Later, the police registered a blasphemy case against the accused Zakir Arshad Gorawi, his son Ahmed Mukhtar and 11-year-old daughter Rida in this regard.
According to local senior police officials, the police have arrested Arshad Gorawi. Further investigation is underway.
