The District Health Department arranged a seminar titled ‘Role of Paediatricians in Polio Eradication,’ in Kahror Pakka here the other day.
Social worker Chaudhry Asim Zafar, Kahror Pakka DDO Health Dr Rahman, City Police SHO Hussain Bakhsh Khosa, CDC Health Rao Zafar Hassan and Health Supervisor Raza Amin addressed the seminar.
Addressing the seminar, Chardhry Asim Zafar said that there was a need for mass public education to remove misconceptions about polio vaccination. He said that chances of Pakistan securing zero polio incidences were strong only if the officials continued to work with the same dedication and commitment. He urged the nation to help in making Pakistan polio-free. He said that Ulema, media and people from all walks of life should contribute in national immunization drives to make Pakistan a country where “no child lives with the fear of being crippled for life”.
Other speakers said that it was duty of Ulema, educationists and the media to create awareness among people to combat the crippling disease. They said that the government should focus on vaccination of displaced children in the areas.
The District Health Department staffers, Union Council Secretaries, doctors, journalists and a large number of people attended the seminar.
