RAWALPINDI: Several government departments are defaulters of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for the last several years and the agency has formed several teams to recover the arrears from them.
According to details, ten departments including police, education, metropolitian and PHC are defaulters who have not cleared the WASA dues for several years. They owe Rs 10 million to the civic agency.
According to the record, Waqar-un-Nisa college, Education board, D.E.O office and many other educational institutions have to pay Rs. 863294.
According to the sources, on the other hand Parco owes an amount of Rs 1949757,WAPDA, 19058,Muncipal Corporation, Rs 6032479,Forest department , Rs 105043, Agriculture department an amount of 7138,Solid waste Management Rs 79928, and Habib bank, Allied bank and Punjab bank have arrears worth of Rs247213.
WASA sources said they have directed the special teams to ensure recovery of the dues otherwise their water and other facilities would be withdrawn forthwith.
