ISLAMABAD - Judicial Flood Commission formed under the directives of Supreme Court in a petition titled Marvi Memon vs. Federation of Pakistan was informed that the airbase at Jacobabad was fully under the control of PAF and no breach was made in any bund by the PAF to save the airbase as it was already located on a high/upper plain. The fourth meeting of Judicial Flood Commission was held in the Cabinet Division, Cabinet Block, Islamabad, on Tuesday. The commission was further informed that no deliberate breach was made in Tori Bund. However, due to mismanagement, corruption and recruitment of inefficient staff after bribing the recruiting authorities, the over all efficiency and output of the Irrigation Department has weakened. Acting Director General, Metrological Department, Director SUPARCO, MD Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA), representatives of Ministry of Defence, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) gave presentations to the commission. In addition to Shuja Ahmed Junejo, former secretary Irrigation and Power Sindh, Idrees Rajput, and Ibrahim Rind also appeared before the commission. The next meeting of the commission will be held on February 15, in the Cabinet Division, Cabinet Block, Islamabad. The provincial rehabilitation authorities have been summoned to provide details of their activities during the floods.
