ISLAMABAD - A constitutional petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking disqualification of an MNA hailing from FATA for voting to a candidate of Senate after taking huge amount of money. Kamal Azfar, a journalist, through Qari Abdul Rasheed has filed the petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution and made Kamran Khan, MNA from NA-40 Tribal Area-V, Tehsil Kattakheil, North Waziristan, a party in the case. The applicant stated that Muhammad Kamran Khan, Member National Assembly in a TV programme on January 20, 2011 and in an interview published in Urdu daily on January 21, 2011 had confessed that he along with his other four companions received billion of rupees to cast their vote. The petitioner maintained that the said Member of the Parliament had violated Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution. He prayed to the apex court to disqualify the said MP for holding any public office as he had admitted his fault. He also requested the apex court to direct the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold by-election in that constituency.
