NOWSHERA - At least two persons were killed and four others injured in firing by security personnel at a vehicle for not stopping at a checkpost here on Sunday.
Sources said the security personnel signalled a van carrying employees of Chirat Cement Factory to stop at security checkpost near Azakhel area in Nowshera. But the driver of the van did not stop and tried to accelerate after which the security personnel deployed at the checkpost opened firing.
Two persons including a security guard identified as Saeedullah and Malik Shah were killed in the firing while Zardad, Nazar Muhammad, Faheem and Mohabatullah sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar due to critical condition.
The security personnel and relatives of injured persons said that the incident took place due to misunderstanding as the driver did not stop for routine checking.
Police have registered a case into the incident and investigation was in progress.
