Hamza vows to meet pre-poll promises

PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the government was trying its level best steer the country out of crises and pledged to fulfil the pre-elections promises.
He was addressing a public gathering in Uch Sharif. “Before the general elections, some political slogans were made in Southern Punjab against the PML-N but the people reposed their trust in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership and opposed the slogans which were based on ethnicity,” he said.
He noted that the provision of drinkable water was a very big problem in Punjab and in this matter the Punjab government had planned a mega project for provision the facility throughout the province. The project would complete at a cost of Rs10 billion by the end of next year with installation of water filtration plants everywhere, he claimed.
He said that the PML-N politics was not based solely on claims. “We believe in practical services of the people. In Bahawalpur, Solar Park is being constructed for producing solar energy and in the next few months it will start producing 100 megawatts of electricity. The national youth are our future and a project for the provision of employment has been launched in Bahawalpur by the government and it would help reduce unemployment. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit Bahawalpur to inaugurate this scheme,” he added.
Mr Hamza Sharif announced the construction of a road from Uch Sharif to Ahamdpur East and also a Girls’ Degree College in Channi Ghot on the demand of MNA Ali Hassan Gillani. He said that Bahawalpur Division will be made an exemplary one and announced to visit the area in every two months. He added that the government was working to make the country Quaid-i-Azam’s Pakistan and it would succeed in the purpose with the public cooperation.
Addressing the gathering, MNA Syed Ali Hassan Gillani said that Pakistan would make progress and become prosperous under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Punjab Disaster Management Authority Director General Captain (r) Muhammad Asif said that Rs26.2 million had been allotted for the 1,102 affected people of Bahawalpur and Uch Sharif while 9 different villages of Bahawalpur had been declared disaster-hit where water tax has been waved off.
He said that in the last year’s flood, the Punjab government compensated the flood victims with Rs1 billion while Rs500 million was spent for reconstruction of their homes. He further said that the government provided 125,000 food packets, 20 thousand rice bags and 47 thousand flour bags for the flood victims.
Later, Hamza distributed cheques to the flood victims of Uch Sharif and Bahawalpur. Rs30,000 each was given to those whose houses were completely destroyed and Rs15,000 to those whose houses were partially affected.
Provincial Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, MPA Adnan Fareed Qazi, Khalid Waran, Mian Shoaib Awaisi, Fauzia Ayub Qureshi, Khalid Jajja, Saood Majeed, Zafar Gillani and Sheikh Hassan Askari were also present.
