Imran urges Supreme Court to hold PM in contempt

ISLAMABAD - Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said that Supreme Court should hold the Prime Minister in contempt as his government was constantly creating hurdlers in implementation of the directives of the court. Imran Khan stated that the time has come for the Supreme Court to hold the Prime Minister in contempt as his government has consistently obstructed the judicial process and created hurdlers in implementation of the directives of the Supreme Court. The Prime Minister continues to interfere in the NICL investigation to protect his near and dear ones as well as political cronies who are now the allies of the government. Political appointments and transfers have destroyed whatever little capacity the police had to effectively tackle criminal elements. While the PM and his government is more focused to protect their corruption and interfere and impede in the judicial process, the countrys economic hub is fast slipping into chaos. In a statement, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan expressed grief and sorrow over the killing of innocent citizens in Karachi. He said the killing rampage in Karachi is indicative of the complete collapse of the law enforcement apparatus due to politicisation of the police and other civil services by the PPP government. He said governance has all but collapsed. Political interference by the government has paralysed the police and other civil services. Meanwhile, announcing the details of daylong conference of PTI on July 9, 2011 in Islamabad to finalise the 100-day plan prepared to meet the political, economic, and social challenges facing the nation, Secretary General PTI, Dr Arif Alvi, said a team of experts from around the country and abroad including Britain and Australia would participate and would make presentations to the PTI Central Executive Committee Members who would deliberate on the recommendations of the experts. He said unlike other political parties that rely on empty rhetoric regarding the serious challenges facing the country, the PTI had initiated a process that lasted over a year to analyse the sectoral challenges and find solutions. Arif said that the experts have prepared a draft report that provides a policy framework to deal with issues such as; restoring Pakistans sovereignty and internal peace, accountability, addressing the energy crisis including an end to load shedding, revival of agriculture and industry, and increased resource generation. He said at the end of this conference, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan would address a press conference to announce the salient features of the 100 day plan with the media. Dr Alvi stated that nationally and internationally renowned experts would participate in the day long conference to finalise the draft document that has been prepared by sectoral experts. He said at the end of the conference, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan would address a press conference to announce the salient features of the 100 day plan with the media.
