PARACHINAR (INP) Two security personnel embraced martyrdom in a militant ambush while at least five insurgents were killed in the retaliatory fire by the security forces in Kurram Agency on Wednesday night. Official sources said that insurgents ambushed a patrol party of security forces with automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenades in the Shaheedano Dhand area of Kurram Agency bordering Afghani-stan, leaving two security forces personnel dead. The attack was repulsed by the security forces and they gunned down at least five insurgents. The official sources did not reveal the number of attackers who after ambush fled the spot that was later on cordoned off by the armed forces personnel. Reports from the area say that the armed forces were planning to launch a fresh offensive against the militants in the Kurram Agency in order to restore peace in the region and to facilitate resumption of activities in the tribal region, especially on Tall-Parachinar Road that has experienced several attacks by the militants.
