Balochistan’s concern over lack of funds from Centre



QUETTA - A high-level meeting under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Balochistan Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad on Friday expressed its deep concern over the non-issuance of the funds for the ongoing projects in Balochistan by the Federal government.
The meeting decided that besides informing the Governor of Balochistan about the situation also a team of provincial government led by Chief Secretary Balochistan would go to Islamabad to meet with the officials of Planning Commission and Finance Divisions, discussing with the implementation of the aforementioned funds for the province.
It was decided that the province would record its strong protest before Centre over the non-issuance of the funds for the construction of national highways, Sariab Pattak flyover bridge and other projects including the funds announced by the Prime Minister for the flood affected people.
“If any cut was made in the projects of Balochistan in federal PSDP or any delay was made in the release of funds for projects particularly if the funds of the province for the construction of national highways were diverted to other provinces in the context of upcoming general elections and set up of interim government, it would not be acceptable to the province at all,” the meeting decided.
The meeting said that the sense of deprivation among the people of the province would increase if the funds were not timely released for the projects and stressed that in order to pathetic condition of Balochistan, Federal government should focus on it and take effective measures. The Additional Chief Secretary of the planning and development Aslam Shakir Baloch, Secretary Finance Dostinn Jamaldini, Commissioner Quetta Qambar Dashti and many other government officials participated in the meeting.
