QUETTA- At least four people, including a local leader of the Balochistan National Party were killed in two separate incidents in Quetta and Khuzdar districts of Balochistan today.
According to the media reports, BNP local leader Attaullah Muhammadzai, who was also the chief of the traders community, and his bodyguard were targeted in Khuzdar. Police officials said that Muhammadzai was travelling with his guard on Khuzdar's Chakar Khan Road when unknown attackers opened indiscriminate fire on their vehicle. The assailants managed to escape from the scene. Both the victims succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to a hospital.
The news of the trade union head's death spread fear and panics in the area. Markets and shopkeepers shut down their businesses in protest of the incident. Khuzdar district is considered to be one of the troubled districts of Balochistan province. Bombings and targeted killings have claimed scores of lives in the district. Meanwhile, two more people were killed in separate incidents of gun-firing in Fatima Jinnah road and Kuchlak Bazaar areas of Quetta.
