ISLAMABAD - A crucial meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawazs (PML-Ns) Central Executive Committee (CEC), scheduled to be held on May 10, would discuss the political situation after the PPP and PML-Q coalition partnership and would evolve its strategy to tackle new challenges. Sources in the party told The Nation that the meeting to be chaired by PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif would take cognisance of the overall political situation in the country, situation arising out from the US unilateral operation against Osama bin Laden and partys political strategy to meet new challenges. They categorically rejected the notion that PML-N would also opt for any political alignment to challenge the PPP and its allies during the next general elections. There is a distant possibility that PML-N will make election alliance with any political party. Rather it would prefer to do seats adjustment with other like-minded political forces, a senior party leader said. He said the meeting would also discuss PPP and PML-Q proposals of creating new provinces in the country including Saraiki and Hazara and would evolve its own course over the ticklish issue. Another issue that the CEC is likely to take up overtures of PML-Q dissidents who are keen in joining the ranks of PML-N. According to well-informed sources there are numbers of PML-Q lawmakers in touch with PML-N leadership seeking to join it ahead of next general elections. They pointed out that the CEC would take a final decision whether to accept the Q League lawmakers, who have been in touch with the PML-N leadership. They said the entire focus of discussion would be on getting maximum results in the next general election.
