Two groups of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activists scuffled with each other on the arrival of the party Punjab President Ijaz Chaudhry at a workers convention here on Friday.
The provincial president arrived in Layyah to participate in a worker convention wherein a group of the party activists backed by PTI MPA Majeed Khan Niazi scuffled with the supporters of PTI District President Yasir Arafat.
On the occasion, MPA Majeed Khan levelled serious allegations of accepting "bribe" against opponent party workers for extending support to the candidates of other political parties. In the meanwhile, local leadership of the party intervened and pacified the quarrelling activists. During the scuffle PTI Punjab President Ijaz Ahmad left the convention venue.
Later, while speaking at a press conference at the residence of Niaz Ahmad Jhakar, Ijaz Chaudhry welcomed former PPP Niaz Ahmed Jhakar and former federal minster for defence production in the PTI.
The PTI stalwart claimed that his party had performed better than the PML-N in the Cantonment Board elections as the PTI secured seats in all the four provinces, unlike the ruling party which did not win seats in all provinces.
He recalled that though they did not accept results of general elections 2013, his party joined the assemblies for the continuation of democratic system in the country.
"The Judicial Commission has been established to probe rigging in the elections as a result of over four months long protest and struggle," he declared, adding that Local Body elections would be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 30.
He informed that once LB elections were completed, all powers would be delegated to the gross-root level to the elected local governments which could spend 30% of the provincial budget.
To question, Mr Chaudhry said that he had filed a petition against a jirga decision whereby it had barred women from casting vote in the by-election in Dir, KPK.
