General Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Gujrat, Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail and his driver were killed when unknown armedmen opened fire at his vehicle on Sunday.
According to details, unidentified unknown armed men opened fire at car of PML-Q Gujrat General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail while he was passing through a sub-urban area of the city.
As a result of firing Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail and his diver were killed on the spot.
The attackers managed to escape from the scene after committing dual murder.
Heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area after the firing incident and started search operation.
The bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Gujrat for medico-legal requirements.
Meanwhile PML-Q leadership including party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and others have expressed profound grief over the targeted killing of its leader. They also criticized the provincial government and law enforcement personnel for their failure to protect the lives of citizens and maintain law and order across the province and demanded the authorities to bring the culprits to book.
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his sorrow over the murder of PML-Q district general secretary and directed the police authorities to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
