KARACHI - Experts of Bomb Disposal Squad on Wednesday defused a bomb carrying 13-kg explosives here in Ferozabad police precincts. Police said the residents of the area found a suspicious bag lying on the road adjacent to an under-construction building. Police rushed to the spot and called the BDS. The bomb disposal personnel defused the bomb. Police suspected that the bomb was planted near a mosque of the same sect which was targeted last week in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulshan-e-Hadid. The BDS experts said it was a remote control bomb but without pellets. It is worth mentioning here that there were a number of roadside bombs that have been found and defused in last couple of months from different areas of the City. Security agencies suspected that the terrorists were trying to create panic among the citizens.Meanwhile, police claimed to have killed three alleged bandits in two separate encounters here on Wednesday. The Anti-Car Lifting Cell and Rangers, in joint operation at Block-B, North Nazimabad, claimed to have killed two car lifters during an alleged encounter. Police said the culprits snatched a car. The tracker company pointed out the location of the car. Following the information, police and Rangers rushed to the spot where, during an exchange of fire, two car lifters were killed while two of their accomplices were managed to flee from the scene. The culprits were identified as Siddique Khan and Munsif Gull aka Amanullah. Police also recovered the snatched car and registered a case against the accused persons. Sohrab Goth industrial area police claimed to have killed an alleged street criminal during an encounter near Faqeera Goth area here on Wednesday. Police, on routine patrolling, tried to intercept the suspects. The culprits opened fire on the police and during an exchange of fire, one bandit and a cop sustained injuries. They were taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced the death of bandit and admitted constable Mir Muhammad for treatment. The accomplices of the alleged bandit managed to flee from the scene. The victim was later identified as Abdul Qayyum Mehsood, resident of Sohrab Goth area.
