The PTI has said that its hundreds of workers are detained in order to get their assurance that they would not take part in the Azadi march scheduled to be held on 14th.
Addressing a press conference at Press Club, PTI Punjab Chief Ijaz Chaudhry said that the Punjab government was taking “worst” steps against its workers to stop the Azadi march but it would continue till the elimination of the government and announcement of fresh elections.
He said that police were detaining hundreds of its workers daily and releasing after getting assurances from them that they would not take part in the march. However, he added, every worker was committed to joining the march at all costs.
He said that all the assemblies including KPK were illegitimate and product of rigging which are not acceptable to people of Pakistan. The present government had failed to provide even basic necessities of life to people such as electricity, gas, petrol etc at affordable rates, he said.
He vowed to continue struggle till the elimination of the government. To a question, he said that objective of PAT and PTI were the same but the methodology was different. Both the parties wanted to bring a people-friendly government whether by constitutional or other means, he said. Ijaz also addressed a workers’ convention and urged all them to get ready for decisive struggle against the government.
