5-kg bomb defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR  - Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Sunday defused a five-kilogram bomb planted by miscreants in Sirband area Peshawar, police said on Sunday.
A remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), planted by unknown miscreant at Chato bus stand, was defused by the BDS, after the SHO Sirband police station Safdar Khan received information about a suspicious item on the roadside.
The disposal squad reached the site and recovered an explosive device, which was concealed in a can of edible oil. The IED, fitted with a remote-controlled detonator, was defused by the BDS personnel.
The local police have launched a search operation in the area and arrested over one dozen suspected people from Sirband area.
