Indian BSF shells Sialkot villages

SIALKOT - The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked heavy mortar shelling on Sialkot border villages, Charwah, Joyian, Harpal, Anula, Akhnoor, Ruraki Awanan, Mairajkey, Kotli Khawaja, Dhamaala, Bajra Garhi, Umeranwali, Thathi Meendarwal, Rangor, Bhagiyari and others of the Working Boundary early Monday morning.
After a week-long lull, the Indian BSF resorted to unprovoked shelling on Sialkot border villages at about 1am, which continued till 6am intermittently. The Chenab Rangers retaliated in a befitting manner, silencing the Indian guns, the senior CR officials said.
No injury or death was reported in this fresh spell of Indian BSF shelling on the Sialkot border villages.
According to senior officials of the Chenab Rangers, the Indian BSF targeted the civilian population of the villagers.
Some local people said several heavy mortar shells fired by the Indian BSF landed in fields and did not explode.
They said the Indian bullets and mortar shells hit empty houses of the local people and damaged some of them.
The senior officials of the Chenab Rangers revealed the Indian BSF targeted the civilian population in the Sialkot border villages along the Working Boundary with small and big weapons besides, firing heavy mortar shells.
Most of the residents of these border villages have shifted to safer places along with their cattle to avert Indian shelling. The affected people were of the view that the Indian BSF often starts unprovoked shelling on Sialkot border villages along the Working Boundary in evening, which continues till morning.
They said they have been spending restless and sleepless nights in fields or other open places in such a cold weather and come back in the morning.
