PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar, said Wednesday that besides promotion of basic education and health facilities in Fata, promoting sports activities was their first priority. This he said as chief guest in an award ceremony for Fata players who showed best performance in Punjab National Youth Festival 2012 held in Governor’s House Peshawar last Wednesday. The governor distributed trophies and cash awards amongst the best players. The ceremony was also attended by Secretary Social Sector Fata, Secretary Law and Order Fata, Director Sports and Youth Affairs Fata and Fata players besides other officials and guests.
The governor was briefed by Secretary Social Sector Aftab Durrani about the performance of Fata players in the festival. It was stated that FATA male team stood 4th in Football, 3rd in Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletics, while female team stood second in Athletics and 4th in Badminton and Table Tennis. The governor said tribal people are not only best players but are best in all fields of life. He said tribal people have educated behaviour even without getting proper education in academic institutions because they know the basic principle how to lead a civilized life. He also said that Tribal people should be appreciated for its best performance as they are they have no modern facilities to develop their hidden potentials. He said that the problems of tribal people in Fata were not their own but were being imposed on them and that we equally share their problem and worries in that difficult times. He said that tribal people had more qualities and competencies than any other nation in the world but they need proper education and opportunities to express themselves.
Governor said we are very much interested to do more reforms in tribal areas and to take major steps to encourage sports activities in Fata.
