PESHAWAR - With an aim to ease the problems of dwellers and provide them better transportation facilities besides restoring connectivity between different villages, the government has rehabilitated four link roads in the flood-hit areas of Dir Lower, which would facilitate thousands of people in the area.
A press release issued by Malakand Development Programme (MDP) here on Monday, says that these link roads were badly damaged by flash floods of 2010, thus leading to many problems for residents. Individuals were unable to have easy access to markets, hospitals and to reach workplaces on time.
Keeping in view their constraints and hurdles, on special directives of the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mahmood Aslam Zazir, the administration has taken concrete steps to rehabilitate the broken roads and reconstruct new one. In its effort, the administration has rehabilitated 2434-meter long access road from Gulli Bagh to Tessu Road in Adenzai sub-division. Similarly 1770-meter long link road was constructed along with a causeway at Kohairy Bagh, Malakand Dara in Tehsil Balambat. The authorities have also completed the widening of 1490-meter long road connecting Tangi Kareen to other villages of Timergara Sub division along with the construction of 122-meters long retaining wall and 3 pipe culverts. Likewise, 1500 meters long streets were paved at Khonano Baba village in Adenzai, while 213 meters drains has also been constructed in the village. These uplift schemes would not only facilitate more than 10,000 dwellers of the locality, but would also help the people to access to hospitals, markets and schools easily.
