LWMC on clean Murree drive

LAHORE - A one day cleaning and awareness activity of the Lahore Waste Management Company on July 9 brought together the LWMC staff, Murree TMA, Albayrak, Ozpak, local residents, the Murree Press Club, the Mall Road Traders Association and tourists in the beautiful hill station.
The LWMC workers in collaboration with Murree TMA removed waste using latest tools, bags and bins throughout the day while focusing on Kashmir Point and Mall Road sine these are the most visited places in this season. Some 125 students from Punjab University, Kinnaird College, Lahore College for University Women, UMT, NUST, Gulberg College also participated in the waste picking besides disseminating awareness material, door stepping and conducting awareness walk from Kashmir Point to GPO.
The Murree Assistant Commissioner Tahir Farooq led the walk whereas the Murree Press Club Presidents, Mall Road Traders Association President and a number of TMA staff and tourists participated in the walk.     
More than 50,000 waste bags were distributed in cars during campaign by the LWMC through Murree toll plazas, LWMC awareness camp at Kashmir Point and through door stepping in more than 200 shops at the Mall Road. The LWMC Youth Club members pasted awareness tickers on all vehicles. The City Traffic Police, Rescue 1112, GPO staff and local residents also took an active part in the campaign. The local residents and the Murree AC appreciated the activity stating it the need of the hour. “Such campaigns not only sensitise and educate the local stake holders but also play an important role in telling thousands of visitors to keep tourist spots clean and waste free”, said AC. He also thanked the LWMC MD to organise such activities even outside Lahore. –STAFF REPORTER
