Book launch

 “Afghanistanand Pakistan Conflict, Extremism and Resistance to Modernity” a book written by Riaz Muhammad Khan has been launched on Sunday.

In his book, the writer covered the important issue ofAfghanistanandPakistanand the problems the both countries were facing in the shape of extremism and terrorism. Riaz also shed light over the tricky Abotabad incident, commented on Salala conflict but but more importantly discussion on post NATO withdrawl scenario in the region.

Local and international writers praised the work by Riaz Muhammad Khan as termed it a great book to state the issues of Sought Asia. Riaz Mohammad Khan joined Pakistan Foreign Service in 1969. He was teaching in thePunjabUniversitybefore joining foreign office.

From 1979-86, he was posted at Pakistan Mission to the United Nations. As Foreign Secretary he was responsible for international organizations and arms control and disarmament issues from 1998-2002, Foreign Office Spokesman 2000-2001 and as Director General responsible forAfghanistan and Soviet affairs from 1986-92.

Mr. Khan served asPakistan’s ambassador toChina(2002-2005), toEuropean Union,BelgiumandLuxembourg(1995-1 998) and toKazakhstanand Kyrghyztan (1992-1995).–Staff Reporter 

 From 2005 — 2008, he was Foreign Secretary ofPakistan. Today at the launching of his first Urdu book Riaz will speak on “PakistanandAfghanistan: Future Perspectives on Bilateral relations, the Taliban and the impending U.S. Withdrawal” at Centre of Public Policy F C college universityLahore.
