Two alleged Al-Qaeda terrorists among eight held in Karachi

KARACHI: At least eight suspects, including two Al-Qaeda terrorists were held during search operations by police in different areas of Karachi on Friday.

Police raided a hideout in Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-D and arrested two terrorists, recovered an anti-aircraft gun, five kilograms of ball bearings, 70 rounds, hand grenades and detonators from their possession.

The suspects identified as Abdul Basit and Muhammad Nauman were affiliated with terrorist outfit Al Qaeda Sub-continent, police said. The suspects had got training in Afghanistan and were involved in attacks on security forces and police.

Meanwhile, police conducted a search operation in Model Colony area of Malir and rounded-up six suspects including two absconders. The police have registered cases and started investigations.
