JACOBABAD/KASHMORE -
At least five persons were killed and five others injured when gunmen opened firing during a jirga in Sindh's Jacobabad town on Sunday.
Reports said a jirga was being held in Jacobabad's Mauladad area to settle a land dispute between two local clans when people from one of the two groups whipped out their weapons and fired shots at their rivals. At least five people were killed in exchange of firing.
Five others, including a cousin of PPP MNA Ejaz Jakhrani, sustained bullet injuries. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Jacobabad.
Police entered the area and went after the gunmen, however, none of them could be arrested.
BRA CLAIMS PIPELINE BLAST: The defunct Baloch Republican Army (BRA) on Sunday claimed responsibility for blowing up an 18-inch diameter gas pipeline in Kashmore on Saturday.
Repair work on the 18-inch diameter gas pipeline near Tangwani started Sunday morning.
The gas transmission pipeline from Sui to Karachi was damaged in the blast at Goth Makhi in Tehsil Tangwani of district Kashmore, suspending gas supply to different areas in the province of Sindh.
