The early establishment of peace in Sialkot bordering villages along with the Sialkot Working Boundary has become a strong desire of the Pakistani and Indian peoples who urged their governments to take measures to ensure peace in the region.
They said that aggression could never be an alternative of peace and the both sides must follow the peace agreements and desires of the peoples in this regard.
Talking to the media at Zero Point in Sucheetgarh-Sialkot Sector, the peoples of Pakistan and India present there urged the governments to ensure peace, and said the people from both the sides want peace and friendship.
The people of India including Sardar Jogindar Singh, Anjali Devi, Preet Kor and Vikram urged their government to ensure peace with Pakistan and start bus service or train service between Sialkot- and Occupied Jammu & Kashmir with a sole aim to promote friendship, peace and unity in the region.
However, the people of Pakistan including Sarwar Khan, Pervaiz Bajwa, Mehmood Butt, Bablu Butt , Asim Sarwar, Bashir and Abid Hussain were of the view that early start of bus or train service between Sialkot and Indian-Held Kashmir was the demand of the day and would also be helpful in promoting the bilateral trade.
On the occasion, complete peace was observed in the bordering villages along the Sialkot Working Boundary, as the farmers were busy in their fields and cultivation. They said that they were easily and fearlessly harvesting the crops.
Govt procures 560,800 bags of wheat: The Food Department has purchased 560,800 bags of wheat from farmers at the procurement centres set up in Sialkot, Narowal and Gujranwala districts of the region, a hub of the best quality wheat.
According to Gujranwala Region Deputy Director Food M Ajmal, the Food Department provided 1,955,142 gunny bags to the wheat growers at the centres enabling them to ensure hurdle-free transportation of wheat from the fields.
He told newsmen that the department late started wheat procurement in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin districts due to weather. He said that the department had distributed 349,000 gunny bags in Sialkot district, 1,110,383 in Gujranwala, 246,592 in Mandi Bahauddin district, 188,342 in Narowal district and 60,853 bags in Gujrat district.
The deputy director revealed that the department had purchased 428,000 bags of wheat worth Rs1.39 billion in Gujranwala district, 90,300 bags wheat worth Rs261 million in Sialkot and 51,418 bags worth Rs167.5 million in Narowal district.
He noted that the Punjab government had fixed official wheat procurement target of 4,320,000 bags of wheat besides setting a target of distributing 4,762,000 gunny bags for Gujranwala Division during the current season.
