PAT applies for election symbol; submits detail of assets to ECP

ISLAMABAD- Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has formally approached Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking allotment of election symbols for the party for next general elections in the country.

In an application PAT has requested the ECP to allot symbols of tractor, star or hockey to the party, sources said. They said PAT has also submitted its asset details. The party's total assets are worth Rs 1.4 million according to reports.

It was announced that PAT would contest next general elections as a political party last month by party Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. In 2002 polls, he contested and only managed to win his own seat in the National Assembly.
